Feature Request: Order Requests Integrated into Reorder Entry and Purchase Orders Summary

PLEASE SEE ATTACHED FILE FOR MORE INFORMATION:

We would like the ability to create Order Requests that can be associated with a customer or left unassigned for store stock, and can be viewed and attached directly in the Purchase Order screen without generating a separate Special Order PO.

The current Special Orders workflow creates a completely separate purchasing process, which is not efficient for vendors we order from weekly or for stocking items that should flow through our normal replenishment process.

What problem does this Idea solve?

There is currently no good flow for order requests for customers or staff that integrates with normal purchasing processes.

This would allow us to:

  • Capture true demand signals from staff and customers

  • Keep purchasing centralized in normal vendor POs

  • Prevent artificial restock inflation

  • Maintain traceability from Request → PO → Receiving → Customer Fulfillment or Inventory

  • Reduce over-ordering and inventory errors

  • Track order requests more efficiently

Use Case Examples

  • Customer requests a specific item we already buy weekly from a vendor or a special order item from that same vendor

  • Sales staff wants to request stock for an upcoming need without altering reorder logic

  • Warehouse staff identifies a shortage and submits a request instead of editing restock quantities

Special Orders are transactional and isolated.
This request is for a demand-layer that feeds into purchasing, not a separate purchasing workflow.
